What’s the point of earning money? (Meaning of Money & Life!) #philosophy

Many philosophical people may try to ponder on the meaning of life, which is tied to money. Some even say why we should earn money?  Let’s analyze the origin and need of money.

Money was always there. Before the metal currency, humans used to exchange consumable or useful items as a means of barter. During the metal currency, money received storage value due to non perishable nature of metal. Due to high making cost, carrying trouble and reduction in metal reservoirs, paper currency started. Then we started carrying plastic cards and now we do online transactions and virtual currencies like Bitcoin was started.

Reason for money being important is the value it has for everyone. For you to live, you need food, water, shelter and now, electricity and the Internet. So, money helps you to buy things you need and want. If everything was free, people would not have a motivation to do business or a job. Even nature has a currency system. Plants take carbon dioxide and provide Oxygen.

Is life only to earn money?

Money is a part of your life and not the life itself. Money helps us to get the tools to achieve our goals. Money is not the goal but being able to take care of self, family and doing things that matter can be possible by money. Money helps us to pay the bills, rent, and expenses like travel, food, and investments like Bank Deposits, Mutual Funds and education. These things help make our life better. We get to live in the way we want and even if not, we survive the life till we can achieve our goals of having a better job, promotion, a particular degree, a new home, a new car, etc. Paying taxes helps us to make the life of future generation better and the society becomes a better place to live.

Earning money is important, but how you earn is also important. Earning by doing a business and a job helps the economy. A good honest business creates many jobs for others. A job helps a company to become bigger and thus, can indirectly create more jobs, besides increasing the earning of that individual.

Money earned through fraud, tax avoidance and criminal activity is not beneficial to the individual. Such ‘bad’ money adds guilt, fear of law, and wrecks a person psychologically. The Bad Karma or the reaction of the negative actions will also return to the person in future.

Basically, money should be given importance as a way of surviving the world and obtaining basic calmness and happiness in life. Greed for money adds to stress and peril of life. Desire for more money is different than mindless greed. Greed makes you do wrong things for quick bucks, but desire for money makes you work hard, over achieve and dream big.

Have a desire for personal happiness and not for showing off things.
Have a desire for money not the greed.
