How Corona virus changed priorities for everyone

It is said that Health is wealth, corona made it even more clear as people stay inside their home to avoid contacting the COVID-19 infection, a dangerously contagious respiratory disease that spreads easily from human to human contact. Countries sealed their borders, stopped flights, and started lock down to curb the virus. Despite having to pay a huge price economically, every country took the difficult decision of stopping all non-essential businesses and services so that human contact, crowding and travelling is stopped. This shows the importance of human health over money.
What is an economy without humans to run it? Without good health, there is nothing people can do to help the economy, whether it is being a consumer, or earning money through jobs or business. Some countries were late to stop the activities through the lock down, and they had to pay the price as the Corona cases increased in thousands and so did the deaths. This also made the world realize another important thing that we all are not well prepared in terms of healthcare facilities

From the world’s most developed nation to the developing nations, everyone faces the same problem of having insufficient amount of ventilators, N95 respiratory masks, and PPEs (Personal Protective Equipment). It feels almost absurd to see all nations struggling with a basic need such as healthcare equipment despite the fact that many such nations have ample amount of smart phones, and defense related weapons. It clearly shows how uneven and biased the development has been so far. All nations were prepared for the attack by some other nation but never prepared for protection against virus.

On a personal level, the people all around the world had to be told about how to wash their hands with a soap and water for 20 seconds to stay safe from virus on hand. Besides, not touching their face, nose, or eyes needlessly. The common etiquettes like coughing or sneezing in a handkerchief, a tissue or on elbows was also necessary to tell when it should have been taught in school and made a good habit. Many people also have the disgusting habit of spitting on roads and public places, which leads to the spread of many viruses like TB, common cold and the latest COVID-19. The local police have to fine people to make this stop, when it shouldn’t be a part of our behavior. The governments, and healthcare authorities had to make sure that everyone gives importance to hygiene.

The biggest lesson taught by the outbreak is that nothing is important except life. How can we get education, work, or enjoy life if we are not alive? What is the use of money if we catch an infection that makes us go into a quarantine for 14 days with no guarantee of recovering? This is why everyone is told to be at home to stay safe from the virus. If people listen to the instructions and stay home, only then the virus can be contained and the chain of spread can be stopped.
