Bloomberg Terminal & Lesson of Focus in Life!

Ever wondered why many colleges of MBA Finance brag that they have these? Ever wondered what the screens of the traders are called? In this post, I not only tell you about the financial use of this but also share what meaning of life it has taught me.

Yes, these are Bloomberg Terminals, computer systems specially made for trading and monitoring stocks. Like how, Gaming Consoles are computer made for gaming, Bloomberg terminals are computers made for stock related operations- monitoring, analysis and trading.

According to Wikipedia page, The Bloomberg terminals are " The Bloomberg Terminal is a computer software system provided by the financial data vendor Bloomberg L.P. that enables professionals in the financial service sector and other industries to access the Bloomberg Professional service through which users can monitor and analyze real-time financial market data and place trades on the electronic trading platform.[1] The system also provides news, price quotes, and messaging across its proprietary secure network. It is well-known among the financial community for its black interface, which is not optimized for user experience but has become a recognizable trait of the service."

Now, the creators of the terminal is the Bloomberg LP.

Here's what information Bloomberg official page has provided-

Sitting on the desks of 325,000 of the world’s most influential decision makers, the Bloomberg Terminal is a modern icon of financial markets.
Launched in 1981, long before PCs and the internet became ubiquitous, the Bloomberg Terminal brought transparency to financial markets. It connected market participants to a groundbreaking data, analytics and information-delivery service — and revolutionized an industry.

Now, let's analyze the Bloomberg Terminal without any complicated language!

The finance aspect:-

These terminals help an analyst or a trader to observe and monitor changes happening in stocks and stock markets. Due to 4 screens, the comparison of stocks or two stock markets is easier.

Any finance company indulging in trades or market related operations needs this. Educational institutes providing this facility can create great professionals who can land jobs easier and thus, admissions also soaring.

What can we learn about Bloomberg Terminal about life?

Philosophical meaning:-
Do we need to monitor our life like this? Worrying about 4 things at the same time is not good but staying informed is a wise decision.

Stay focused:- The analysts using this terminal focuses the attention to the analysis of the stocks and markets. Not about life or anything else. We need to focus our attention to one task at a time.
In the same way, we need to focus on our goals and work during our life but I understand that it’s difficult when we have problems. Perhaps, we can allocate some time of the day or the week thinking about the solutions of the problems so that we don’t think about the problems while driving our car, bike, walking or while working? I have heard many incidents of car crash or bike accident happening due to the driver’s fault. We see that in the movies, especially Bollywood movies, we see that whenever the character is stressed, the driving is rough and the accident is more likely to occur.

Many people say that you have to leave the office problems in office and your family problems at home. Otherwise our lives can get adversely affected- both, personal and professional.

Everything has a specific time and place. The same is true for our problems. We have to think and solve them during a limited time at a particular place.

Avoiding procrastination is important, as we can cause more problems if we ignore them for now. If you can’t find a way, then perhaps, find help by asking someone trustworthy and credible? You might find a solution. Perhaps, meditate, and think about it rationally while eyes closed. You might find the solution yourself.

The screen shows what’s happening live and not something that’s happening in future or some outdated information. So, stop worrying about future and forget the past. Use the past info and future goals to create a good present and a better future!
