How to Find the Right Job, Business, or Side Hustle Through Simple Questions?

 

Galileo Galilei was a medical student but left his studies due to his love for mathematics, and the rest is history... He became one of the most famous astronomers in the world.   

  This is why we need to find the right career or business as per our liking and skills. Some simple questions can help you to make your search easier. The following are the questions:-

Should I do it?

 Is there a family business you must take care of? Do you like the profession of your parents or siblings and their company is ready to take you in? Such things that automatically come to your way, might be tempting, and annoying too. We need to think with a clam mind, and ask if that's what we want and what is the best for us.

Is it Required by the market?

 Check if the business or job is relevant, and will be relevant in future. If there's a business like typewriter making company then it is not going to be around for too long, and thus, should be sold off or converted into something else, like, keyboard or tablet computer making company. If your skill is outdated, learn something new to become relevant in the job market.

Can I do it?

 Some professions or business require abilities that may not be possible for all. Like being in military, police force or a stunt professional requires a great deal of physical and mental strength. Can you do the job or business you want to do? Can you learn the ability or skill through training or a course?

What I Cannot do ?

 Some jobs require a special certificate or skills or require no gaps in career. You can get a science or engineering degree after being a Masters in Arts but is that really worth it? You had a gap due to being laid off during the pandemic of 2020, or you had health problems. Thus, don't consider such jobs and look elsewhere. Take it positively and narrow down your search by looking at the doors that are open.

What I Want to do?

  What's your passion and what is it that you want to do? Many people have a dream, and skills for that too. Such work is something that never feels like work. Try to find what you want to do through thinking about your skills, ability, situation and other factors.

What I Like to do? Do I still like it?

  You are already doing a job or a business but do you still like it? Is it still relevant in the market? Is there a way to change your career? What is that you don't like? Is there a way to like your work? Maybe think of the positive side of the work.

If you still cannot think of any career or business, then you should ask a professional career coach, psychologists to assess your skills/persona, take aptitude tests, career counsellors, ask family/friends/mentors, and ask online on Quora, LinkedIn or Reddit. Till you find the right thing to do, it is better to keep doing what you are doing, and what is in front of you instead of being confused and not doing anything at all. If you didn't do anything at all, don't worry, it's always better late than never. You've still got time.
