Inspiring Interview with Matt Entin & Ed Kuehnel - Writers & Founders of Suspicious Behavior Productions!

Here is an inspiring interview with writer and comic book creator, Matthew (Matt) Entin from Suspicious Behavior Productions comics who along with Edward (Ed) Kuehnel has created "Invasion from Planet Wrestletopia" Sci-Fi Space Wrestling Action Comedy Comic Series (  Edward Kuehnel (Author) , Matt Entin (Author) , Ed Kuehnel (Author) , Matthew Entin (Author) , Dan Schkade (Illustrator) , Kendall Goode (Illustrator) )!

Darsh: Q1.  For those who don't know, please tell us about the Suspicious Behavior Productions and your work?

Matt Entin: Ed and I have been writing together professionally for over 15 years, primarily in the video games industry. We started Suspicious Behavior Productions as a venue to independently explore our own stories in different media.

Q2. Please tell us about your comic book journey and how you started making comic books?

Matt Entin: We both grew up reading comics, I was for a time an avid collector, but I didn't think about actually making them until a few years ago. Ed and I had a story we wanted to put out into the world, and a comic book seemed like the most appropriate (and affordable) format.

Q3. What inspired you to create the comic series, Invasion From Planet Wrestletopia?

Matt Entin: Ed had the initial idea: "What if a bunch of alien pro wrestlers invaded Earth?" Then he suggested that they would put a steel cage around the planet. For whatever reason, that image really grabbed me. We were pretty much off to the races from there. It's really a passion project fueled by our shared childhood love of wrestling.

Q4. What were the challenges while making and publishing the comic book series? How did you overcome them?

Matt Entin: When you're independent like we are, it's difficult to keep a creative team together. When someone gets an offer to work on a project from say, DC, it's hard to compete with that kind of prestige. You just have to remain open and flexible. We had to assemble an entirely different team to do our last three issues, but I think they're visually and creatively the strongest in the whole series.

Q5. Besides comics, what other projects does Suspicious Behavior Productions make which you would like the readers to know?

Matt Entin: This is our first and only project thus far, but if you're a fan of our writing, you can see our work in upcoming video games like Maneater: Truth QuestGenomon, and Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope.

Q6. What is the advice you would give to those who want to create independent comics?

Matt Entin: DON'T DO IT! But in all seriousness, pay for quality talent and pay them their rate. If you want a professional-looking comic, it doesn't come cheap, but the cost is worth it.

Q7. What are the future projects which you are excited about?

Matt Entin: We have a horror-comedy series that we've already outlined. Stay tuned!

Q8. What things make you proud and happy about your work?

Matt Entin: We're naturally attracted to these pretty ludicrous, out there story concepts, but I'm proud that we always manage to ground them in sympathetic, believable characters.

Q9. What is the best and worst thing about wrestling according to you? Also who are some of your favorite wrestlers?

Matt Entin: The actual wrestling has always been secondary to me, I love the characters, the mic work, when someone creates a persona that feels wholly new and original. The worst thing is the industry's relationship with its talent. These men and women physically put themselves at risk on a nightly basis, they deserve a labor union and employer-provided health insurance. I was always a Randy Savage fan. Ed is a Ric Flair guy.

Q10. What would you like to tell the readers about the comic series Invasion From Planet Wrestletopia? Why, according to you, is it a must read?

Matt Entin: It's fun, it's funny (at least we think so), and it has a lot of heart. Plus, where else are you going to see Boris Yeltsin wrestling an alien?

Darsh: Thank you so much for your time and sharing your wisdom with us!! Wishing you, Ed and SBP team all the best for the future!
