The Magic of “Let’s Do it Now”
There is a saying
that goes like- “If there’s a work for tomorrow, do it today, and if today, do
it now.”
Whenever there’s possibility, we should definitely try to do the work today instead of procrastination (Saying that let’s do it later).
The Benefits of Do it Now attitude:
1.
You get more things done in the day
2.
You get more free time if you complete
everything if you have the spare time now
3.
You feel stress-free as there’s no pending work.
4.
You feel better about yourself as you complete
more work.
Some caution though, as doing everything now is not the reason to get burnt out.
When should you keep the work for later, or tomorrow:-
1.
You are feeling very tired, and doing the work
will cause you illness, or result in a poor performance or mistakes. (If there’s
no choice, then at least try to reduce the tiredness, and get refreshed by
eating something, or drinking water.)
2.
If the work is not urgent, and can be done in a
week or a month, then, doing that work instead of other urgent projects will
add to your stress in the short term.
3.
If the work requires teamwork, and your team
mates don’t have the time right now, then scheduling work when everyone’s got
time is the best thing to do instead of trying to get things done right now,
unless, the work is due in 2 days.
4.
If you don’t have the valid information, or
resources right now, it’s better to do the work later when you have the valid
sources, or resources instead of creating a report or making the project based
on half information, or mediocre quality.
5. If you’re the boss. No, seriously, if you are the head of your business, you might have some analysis, and information about the industry, and you will know when a project should start based on the current demand, and supply of products, services, and workforce.
What’s the magic of “Let’s Do It Now” then?
1.
When you start doing something instead of just
thinking, you start to know that it is not as difficult as you thought it would
be.
2.
When you are starting a work, you are at least
making some progress instead of not starting at all.
3.
When you can’t start a work, then at least
starting the planning process helps to make the work better, like it is said
that “Well begun is half done.” & “Victory Lies in Preparation”.
4.
When you start completing many projects, you
will be surprised to see how much work you have done.
5.
Completing and doing more work, helps to open up
new opportunities as your finished work becomes your achievement for others to
see.
So, like the Nike said, “Just Do
It” often helps you become stress-free, and get more things done.
